How to Care for Your Pet During the COVID-19 Outbreak

With the COVID-19 virus outbreak, it is important for us to think about our pets. Local veterinarians and the Nebraska Humane Society are making some changes in caring for our sweet pets.

Vet clinics around the metro are changing the way that they are seeing our pets. They are making clients wait out in the parking lot in their cars and then some either call you or come get your pet from you. They will then take them inside and call you with the consult over the phone. They want to keep everyone safe. Now it is important to note that dogs can not get the virus, but they can carry it.

Also, the Nebraska Humane Society have changed the way they adopt out pets. Instead of you being able to just walk into the shelter to see the animals you will need to call them on your phone first. If you are looking for a pet, look online at NEHumaneSociety.org and if you really want to see the animal you can come into the shelter. They are just limiting people from coming in and out of the building.

To be safe, be sure to call your vet clinic to ask them how they are observing the virus outbreak before walking into the clinic.
