Wanna thank you (enthusiastically) for visiting my website. Know that I'm always open to ideas. Like theater and broadcasting, ideally this is an active relationship between the two of us. By the way, I'm counting on you to help spread the word that "Wingy's back in town...and back on KGOR . I'm calling it "Dave's low-budget, low-tech, word of mouth campaign". I've been back in town a little over two months now, and have been getting nothing but sincere, open-hearted "welcome back home's" from just about everyone I meet. What was that Bon Jovi song that was a hit over the summer? "Who says you can't go home?"  Indeed. There's nothing like a sense of belonging. I can't tell you how joyful it feels to be welcomed back to the Omaha community. Add to that, the jaw-dropping way our town's grown the past twenty years. Astounding.

Friday We Celebrate The Dedication of Russia's Enema Monument

A HEALTH CENTER IN ZHELEZNOVODSK, RUSSIA, HAS UNVEILED WHAT IS BELIEVED TO BE THE WORLD'S FIRST MONUMENT CELEBRATING ---- ENEMAS. WORKERS AT THE MASHUK AKVA-TERM SANATORIUM SAID THE MONUMENT, WHICH DEPICTS AN 800-POUND BRONZE SYRINGE BULB BEING CARRIED ON THE BACKS OF THREE ANGELS, WAS PLANNED BECAUSE THE HEALTH CENTER CARRIES OUT HUNDREDS OF THE PROCEDURES EVERY DAY. ALEXANDER KARCHENKO, THE FACILITY'S DIRECTOR, SAYS SINCE GASTROENTEROLOGY IS THE MAIN TREATMENT AREA AT THE ZHELEZNOVODSK SPA CENTER, IT WAS DECIDED TO CREATE SUCH A UNIQUE MONUMENT, WHICH IS BOTH FUNNY AND VITAL.

Playing To Win

My minister back in Seattle, Kathianne Lewis, did a talk one Sunday about the difference between "Playing to win" and "Playing not to lose". Playing to win means asking yourself "How much am I learning and how much am I loving?" as opposed to 'How much am I protecting myself or staying comfortable for fear of rejection, or failure or  embarrassment?" Here are some words attributed to Mother Teresa...they were found on the walls of her office after she had passed away. I think you'll find these are her ways of reminding herself to play to win.

People are often unreasonable, illogical and self-centered. Forgive them anyway.
If you are kind, people may accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives. Be kind anyway.
If you are successful, you will win some false friends and some true enemies. Succeed anyway.
If you are honest and frank, people may cheat you. Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spend years building, someone could destroy overnight. Build anyway.
If you find serenity and happiness, they may be jealous. Be happy anyway.
The good you do today, people will often forget tomorrow. Do good anyway.
Give the world the best you have and it may never be enough. Give the world the best you've got anyway.
You see, in the final analysis, it is between you and God. It was never between you and them anyway.
This week, look at all the ways that you are leaning into life, learning as much as you can, expressing as much as you can, and loving as much as you can. If you're doing those things, you are definitely winning.

Much love to you,
Dave

June 5, 2007

Share a piece on the air this morning. Was really surprised and delighted
by the positive response...from both men and women.
It's about the importance and power of forgiveness.
In case you missed it....or if you'd like to copy it for your own...here it is:

SAND AND STONE

This is the story of two friends who were walking thru the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, wrote in the sand: "Today my best friend slapped me in the face".

They kept walking until they found an oasis, where they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him. After he recovered , he carved on a stone "Today my best friend saved my life".

The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand...and now, you inscribe on stone. Why?"
The other friend replied: "When someone hurts us, we should write it down in sand where the winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

Learn to write your hurts in the sand and carve your blessings in stone.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, but an entire lifetime to forget them.

I trust this finds you enormously well.
And what's going on...on YOUR end of the radio/computer?
When the inspiration hits, you know how to find me.
Always open and eager to hear your thoughts about the morning show.
Or about life.
Meantime, Blessings and love...
