makes it easier for families to obtain assistance by providing a single contact point 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Trained Helpline operators screen calls to

o

Assess immediate safety needs

o

Identify the potential level of a behavioral health crisis

o

Make recommendations or referrals to appropriate resources

o

Help callers connect to emergency resources or providers.

•

The Helpline is supervised by licensed behavioral health professionals.

•

Every caller will speak to someone. So, no matter how great or how small the caller’s

concerns, everyone will have a voice.

•

From January 2010 through April 2012, the Helpline handled more than 8,500 calls

from 6,050 families.

•

The Helpline has worked with families statewide, in 83 of Nebraska’s 93 counties.
