If you're mad about the election, here's a heads-up:  Research shows that a lot of the foods that make you HAPPY are ALSO linked to moodiness and depression.  Here are five foods that seem like a good idea at first . . . but might put you in a bad mood later.

#1.)  Potato chips.  If they're fried, they're soaked in oils that are full of something called omega-6 fatty acids.  And those block omega-3 fatty acids . . . which promote good moods and overall brain health.

#2.)  Ham.  Your typical ham from the grocery store comes with added sugar, salt and preservatives that can cause bad moods and even migraines.  Instead, you could do pork loin, which contains plenty of thiamine for the nervous system.

#3.)  Margarine.  Maybe this isn't surprising, given that it's 100% artificial.  But margarine is high in omega-6 fatty acids, and other fats that can cause inflammation.  So real butter is actually better.

#4.)  Bagels.  They're crammed with refined carbohydrates, which can set you up for an energy crash later in the day.

#5.)  Peanuts.  Cocktail-style salted peanuts are usually high in MSG, which can contribute to migraines, weakness, burning sensations, and breathing difficulties in some people.

--Walnuts and almonds are much healthier:  Walnuts have omega-3 fatty acids, and almonds are high in vitamin E, which preserves brain fat.

-Of course, if you give up stuff potato chips for healthy alternatives, you might end up hating your life anyway.  So you're probably screwed either way.
