5.) The price of gas can’t get much higher, can it?

Idol Chatter

American Idol afterthought…

First, do you watch American Idol? It is a very popular show if you haven’t heard of it (which if you haven’t may be living under a rock) and it is based on people between the ages of 16-28 competing in a singing competition in hopes to be the eventual winner. Well I had the opportunity to meet an American Idol contestant from last season, Phil Stacey. He was very down to earth and still had stars in his eyes from the entire idol experience. I find idol an interesting show, however, due to the process in which it is done.

In August, I tried out for American Idol (in Omaha) and it was a bit overwhelming to see 8,000 of my fellow Omaha friends trying out as well! You show up one day to receive a wrist band and come back two days later to line up for your audition. I had about 15 seconds to wow the judges with a song of my choice. When you walked into the Qwest Center there were 12 tables with dividers between each one and two judges at each table. It was a very cold experience I thought, the judges didn’t seem to care at all about the contestants, of course since they hold the fate of your dream, they feel they can behave in this manner. Do you know someone who tried out? I’d be interested in hearing what you or they thought of the whole experience! Let me know, send me and email Ellie@KGOR.com. Look forward to hearing from you!
