Proof of Military Service:
Most companies require some form of military ID. These include: a Military ID Card (active/reserve/retired), Current Leave and Earnings Statement (LES), Drivers License with Veterans Designation, Photograph in uniform, be wearing uniform (if your service permits), Veterans Organization Card (e.g., American Legion and VFW), DD214, discharge paperwork, or other form of identification. Other restaurants and companies may go by the honor system.

Applebee’s – free meal, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012: Last year, Applebee’s served over one million free meals to military veterans and active servicemembers. Applebee’s is again offering a free meal to military veterans and active-duty service members on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012. Chili’s – free meal, Sunday, Nov. 11 2012. Chili’s is offering all military veterans past and present their choice of one of 7 meals. This offer is available from 11am – 5pm on November 11, 2012 at participating Chili’s in the U.S. only. Dine-in from limited menu only; beverages and gratuity not included. Denny’s Veterans Day Appreciation Event, Nov. 12 2012. Free all you can eat pancakes from 6 a.m. – 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 for all active, retirees, and veterans with a valid military ID or proof of military service. Offer available in every Denny’s nationwide.

Home Depot Veterans Day Discount
Every year on Veteran’s Day the Home Depot offers a 10% discount on Veteran’s day. Must present a valid military ID. Home Depot also offers this discount to Veterans on Memorial Day, Fourth of July, Labor Day.
Lowe’s Veterans Day Discount
All Veterans receive a 10% discount on Veteran’s Day up to $5,000 on in-stock and special-order purchases. The offer can’t be used online, on previous sales or on sales of services or gift cards. Must present a valid Veteran Identification Card (VIC), valid Form DD214 or other proof of service. Lowes also offers this Veteran’s discount on Memorial Day and the Fourth of July.
Brides Across America Free Wedding Gown Events
From November 6th to November 24th Brides Across America is partnering with bridal salons to giveaway wedding dresses to qualified military brides. All military brides must pre-register online.
Free Hair Cut
While too many to list many local hair clip and barber shops offer free hair cuts on Veterans Day to Veterans and active duty armed forces members. Call stores in your local area to confirm.
Free Oil Change
Oil changes are free to Veterans and active duty armed forces members at many participating local oil change centers including participating name brand oil service centers. Call stores in your local area to confirm. Many are offering the free oil change for several days around Veteran’s Day.
Sports Clips Free Haircut
All veterans and active-duty U.S. service members can get a free haircut on Veterans Day, Sunday November 11 with valid proof of service. Sports Clip is also raising money for the Veterans of Foreign Wars’ (VFW) Operation Uplink program and will donate a $1 for every haircut service to the program.
