We went out on a campout with the boys' Cub Scout Pack a few weekends ago.  Besides earning the "Freeze Out" patch (it got down to 26 degrees that night-brrr!), I was also inspired watching the Scouts as we got them involved in making their own dinner.  Wrapping corn on the cob in foil, making their own foil packet meals, cooking things on sticks, they all had a blast...and they ate their creations.

You don't have to freeze your tuckus off to do this at home.  Foil packets cook up nicely on the grill or in the oven.  Below are some links to different sites with lots of camping/foil packet recipes that you could adapt to do at home---just be sure to let your kids make their own!
