The Salvation Army has changed lives and given hope to countless people throughout the nation. But it never does it alone. Among its basic resources are volunteers like you. The ways you can help are innumerable, astonishingly diverse. Volunteerism is also crucial during times of natural disaster, when The Salvation Army is on the front lines of relief and recovery.

Volunteers truly are integral to The Salvation Army's effectiveness.

Volunteers Needed
Salvation Army Disaster Services

Volunteers assist The Salvation Army at local and regional disasters. Training required and provided by The Disaster Service Department.  Please call 402-898-5942.

Dora Bingel Senior Center
Van drivers are needed to transport senior citizens from their home to The Salvation Army for activities, to the store for groceries, etc. Various schedules are available. Valid driver’s license and able to pass the driving record and background checks. Must be 25 years of age or older.

Special outings leader needed once a month for 3-4 hours from April through September. Assist in choosing a location (for shopping, movies, etc.)

Bingo Callers and Bingo Assistants
Lunch attendants wanted on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

MASS (Material Assistance Seasonal Services)
Daily help is  needed to assemble food pantry bags and sort food. 
Some lifting is required and must be 18 and over to volunteer. Hours are Monday through Friday between 9am-4pm.  Hours and days are flexible.

Kid’s Cruisin Kitchen
Volunteers deliver meals via the Salvation Army Canteen Trucks, five days a week, taking nutritious meals to low-income kids at lunch sites around the metro. Volunteers must be 18 years old and over. Volunteers are needed weekdays June through August from 10am-2pm.

Save The Date: Back to School!
Volunteers are needed to help sort school supplies as well as stuff and distribute backpacks. Since this program began, more than 100,000 students have received much needed school supplies to begin the new academic year.  Volunteers are needed weekdays mornings and afternoons and Saturdays from August 6-17th

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/SEXUAL ASSAULT VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
Offer support to the DV/SA programs with office support, 24-hour crisis hotline volunteer, or court advocacy volunteer.

·Crisis Hotline Volunteers
You can be part of the staff 6-12 hours per month on the 24 hour crisis hotline, serving the needs of victims of domestic and sexual violence. This position requires an application, interview, background check and completion of a 30-hour training course provided by the WCA. Other prerequisites may apply.

·Court Advocacy Volunteer
Court Advocate Volunteers may attend hearings with WCA clients and assist with the criminal justice process (including with filing Protection Orders, referrals to County Attorney, Victim Assistance, or Legal Aid of Nebraska).  Court Advocate Volunteers are required to complete the Hotline Volunteer training (schedule above) and commit to a minimum of two or more shifts per month (for a total of six or more hours).  Please indicate the best days and times that you are available to volunteer.

CAREER CLOTHING CLOSET
The WCA is grounded firmly in our own community, with services and programs to meet the needs of individuals who wish to give their time, skills and talent.

You can work on-site in our premier Clothing Closet by helping staff check-in sort and display donated clothing, accessories and shoes. 

Hone your fashion stylist skills as you assist clients as they select their "ready to work" wardrobe and provide inventory control in determining what seasonal clothing should be displayed.

Should you decide to volunteer you will be requested to fill out a volunteer application form and complete a short interview.

WCA PARTNERS GUILD
WCA Partners supports the agency in its mission by broadening awareness, fundraising, and participating in programs that support women, children and families. The guild is very busy and works with the WCA staff on: Teen Dating Violence Awareness Month, Tribute to Women, TGIF!, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Sexual Assault Awareness Month; Career Clothing Closet; Employment and Clothing Fair Extravaganza and many others.

Volunteers needed for Friday, June 7 8:30am-4:30pm, Saturday, June 8 8am-9pm and Sunday, June 9 9:30am-6pm. Positions Available: Set-up/Tear Down, Team Host, Volunteer Check-In, Kid Zone Games, Merchandise Sales, Staff Voting Booth, Sand Dollar Sales, Site Cleanup.  3-4 Hours Shifts Available.  Free Official Sand In The City T-Shirt given to all volunteers.
